Bada Dev and Boodhi Dai

In almost all the tribes of Madhya Pradesh, Shaiva and Shakta tradition is recognised by various local names. Shaiva is known Bada Dev, Lingo Dev, Thakur Dev and Bab Dev etc. Shakta, the Goddess Goddess is worshiped in the form of Budhi Dai, Budhi Mai, Khair Maharani and Badki Dai etc. It is a popular belief that all the living beings of this earth are born from these two and then get absorbed in them and they are God-Goddess of Birth & Death. This belief has been expressed by depicting the form of the creator and the destroyer of this vast world in a single exibit.

मध्यप्रदेश की लगभग सभी जनजातियों में शैव और शाक्त परम्परा की मान्यता स्थानीय नामों से स्वीकार की जाती है । वे कहीं बड़ा देव, लिंगो देव, ठाकुर देव और बाब देव आदि हैं तो देवी को बूढ़ी दाई, बूढ़ी माई, खैर महारानी और बड़की दाई आदि के रूप में आराधा जाता है । इन दोनों से ही इस धरती के सभी जीव-जन्तुओं के पैदा होने और फिर इन्हीं में समाहित हो जाने की लोकमान्यता है । एक तरह से जन्म और मृत्यु का कारक देवी - देवता ।

इस विराट सृष्टि के रचनाकार और संहारकर्ता के स्वरूप को एक ही शिल्प में रूपायित कर इस मान्यता को अभिव्यक्त किया गया है ।
