बाबू ताहेड़

28 वर्षीय युवा भीली चित्रकार बाबू ताहेड़ का जन्‍म मध्‍यप्रदेश की राजधानी भोपाल में हुआ। झाबुआ जिले के पहाड़ी ग्राम गेहलर के रहने वाले आपके माता-पिता श्री मंगलिया एवं श्रीमती अंतुबाई जब वर्षों पूर्व रोजगार की तलाश में भोपाल आये थे, तो फिर यहीं बस गये थे और आप सब छ: भाई-बहनों का लालन-पालन और शिक्षा यहीं हुई। आपने बी.कॉम. में स्‍नातक किया है। विशेष पर्व-त्‍योहार अथवा मांगलिक अवसरों पर ही अब आपका अपने पैतृक गाँव जाना होता है, जो आपको अपनी जड़ों से जोड़े रखता है।

आप विवाहित हैं और आपके दो बच्‍चे हैं। आपकी पत्‍नी श्रीमती संगीता ताहेड़ भी पारम्‍परिक चित्रकला करती हैं और आपके चित्रकर्म में सहायता करती हैं। वरिष्‍ठ भीली चित्रकार श्रीमती लाड़ोबाई, जो कि रिश्‍ते में आपकी ताई (बड़ी माँ) लगती हैं, उन्‍हीं के सान्निध्‍य में रहकर आपने भीली चित्रकारी सीखी है और कुछ वर्षों तक उनके सहायक के रूप में कार्य किया है।

वर्तमान में आप स्‍वतंत्र रूप से चित्रकला कार्य करते हैं। दिल्‍ली, गोवा, बैंगलोर सहित आपने देश-प्रदेश की अनेक कलादीर्घाओं में आयोजित कुछेक संयुक्‍त चित्रकला प्रदर्शनियों में भाग लिया है। आपके चित्रों में जंगली पशु-पक्षि‍यों के साथ जनजातीय परम्‍पराएँ विशेष तौर पर द्रष्‍टव्‍य होती हैं। आप अपनी सफलता का सम्‍पूर्ण श्रेय अपनी कला-गुरु और बड़ी माँ श्रीमती लाड़ोबाई को देते हैं, जिनकी सतत् प्रेरणा और मार्गदर्शन ने आपकी चित्रकला को सुघड़ बनाया।

Babu Tahed

Babu Tahed, a 28-year-old Bhil painter, was born in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. His parents, Shri Mangaliya and Smt. Antubai, originally belonged to Gehaler village in Jhabua district but settled in Bhopal years ago in search of livelihood. He grew up with his six siblings in the city and completed his graduation in Commerce. He visits his ancestral village only during festivals or family occasions, which keeps him connected to his roots.

He is married and has two children. His wife, Smt. Sangeeta Tahed, also practices traditional painting and assists him in his work. He learned Bhil painting under the guidance of senior Bhil artist Smt. Ladobai, who is his aunt, and worked as her assistant for several years.

Currently, he works independently as an artist. He has participated in several joint exhibitions in Delhi, Goa, Bangalore, and other places. His paintings prominently depict tribal traditions along with wild animals and birds. He credits his success entirely to his mentor and aunt, Smt. Ladobai, whose constant inspiration and guidance refined his art.
