Deepika Dhurve, an accomplished young painter from the indigenous Gond community, was born in Patangarh in the forested Dindori district of Madhya Pradesh—the renowned cradle of contemporary Gond visual art. Raised amidst lush woodlands, hillocks, and sacred groves, her intimate communion with nature nurtured her artistic sensibility from early childhood. She completed her formal education in Dindori. In 2017, she married fellow Patangarh native Shri Pradeep Kumar Dhurve, himself a distinguished traditional painter, and together they are raising two children.
For over a decade, Deepika has dedicated herself to the practice of Gond art, presenting her canvases at prestigious exhibitions across major Indian cultural centres including New Delhi, Vadodara, Hyderabad, Bhopal, Amarkantak, and Shahdol. These exhibitions have brought her distinctive visual style to wide acclaim among collectors and connoisseurs.
Deepika wholeheartedly attributes her artistic genesis and artistic mastery to her mother, Smt. Chandrakala Pusham. Learning at her mother's side, Deepika imbibed the meticulous nuances of traditional Gond motifs, stippling, and fine hatching while collaborating on numerous painting projects. Her mother's continuous encouragement and seasoned guidance refined Deepika's aesthetic expression into a mature, cohesive visual language. In Shalaka-44 at Aadivart Museum, her curated body of work is offered for direct acquisition to support indigenous artists and celebrate living heritage.
Authentic original paintings on display at Shalaka Gallery. Available for acquisition directly from the artist.
